What does this test include?
This package includes HOMA-IR, HbA1c and urine microalbumin. Together they provide information about insulin resistance, average glucose over recent months and early albumin leakage from the kidneys.
Why might it be ordered?
- To assess diabetes risk or possible insulin resistance.
- To monitor glucose control and kidney risk in a person with diabetes.
What sample is needed?
A fasting blood sample and a urine sample are generally needed. Ask whether the laboratory wants a first-morning or another spot urine sample.
How should you prepare?
