Our history
SANA Independent Medical Diagnostic Laboratory Ltd was established in May 2000. Since then, it has participated in external quality-assurance programmes run by Bulgarian organisations responsible for quality in medical laboratories.
The laboratory uses modern automated analysers and a broad range of equipment aligned with the national standards for clinical laboratory medicine, microbiology and virology.
Its laboratory information system uses barcode-based patient and sample identification, connects with the analysers and provides secure remote access to laboratory results.
The team has extensive experience working with children of all ages through its collaboration with specialist paediatric medical centres and long-standing partners.
SANA has been a contractual partner of the Bulgarian National Health Insurance Fund since 2001 and works with private health-insurance funds.
Laboratory departments
- Clinical laboratory medicine: haematology, urinalysis, haemostasis and coagulation, biochemistry, specialised diabetes tests and allergy testing.
- Highly specialised testing: hormones, tumour markers, therapeutic drug monitoring and immunology.
- Microbiology: examination of throat, nasal, ear, eye, urine, stool, vaginal, cervical, urethral, prostate, breast-milk and other biological samples.
- Transfusion haematology: blood group and antibody testing.
- Parasitology.
