What does this test include?
This thyroid panel includes TSH, FT4 and free T3 (FT3). It helps show how the thyroid is working; level 3 also looks for antibodies associated with autoimmune thyroid disease.
Why might it be ordered?
- To investigate symptoms such as tiredness, weight change, palpitations or sensitivity to heat or cold.
- To monitor a known thyroid condition or treatment.
What sample is needed?
The panel may require one or more samples. The laboratory will confirm the material needed for every included test.
How should you prepare?
Preparation depends on all tests in the panel. Confirm fasting, timing and container requirements in advance, and do not change treatment on your own.
How are the results reported?
TSH is interpreted together with the free thyroid hormones. Thyroid antibodies can support an autoimmune explanation but do not, by themselves, show how well the gland is functioning.
