What does this test include?
This package contains a 25-parameter CBC, ESR, urinalysis with sediment, glucose, urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin, total and direct bilirubin, AST, ALT, GGT, alkaline phosphatase, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, VLDL, uric acid, phosphate, magnesium, total and ionized calcium, potassium, ferritin, vitamin B12, 25-OH vitamin D, TSH and homocysteine.
Why might it be ordered?
- For a broad review of selected nutrition and health markers while following a vegan diet.
- When diet, symptoms or previous results justify checking blood count, iron storage, B12, vitamin D, thyroid and metabolic markers.
What sample is needed?
A blood sample and fresh urine sample are required. Ask whether the ionized-calcium sample has special collection or timing requirements.
How should you prepare?
Fasting may be requested because glucose and lipids are included. Tell the laboratory about supplements and do not stop them without advice.
How are the results reported?
No fixed panel can assess every aspect of nutrition. Results should be interpreted with your diet, symptoms, supplement doses and any conditions affecting absorption.
