What does this test include?
An urgent panel containing CBC, white-cell differential, CRP and MxA (myxovirus resistance protein A). MxA may add information about an antiviral immune response, but it does not identify a particular virus.
Why might it be ordered?
- When a clinician wants rapid blood-count and inflammation information together with MxA.
- To support assessment of an acute febrile or respiratory illness.
What sample is needed?
The panel may require one or more samples. The laboratory will confirm the material needed for every included test.
How should you prepare?
Fasting is usually unnecessary, but confirm local instructions. Urgent symptoms still require clinical assessment even if testing is available quickly.
How are the results reported?
Neither CRP nor MxA proves a specific bacterial or viral diagnosis. The pattern is interpreted with symptoms, timing and any microbiology or molecular tests.
