What does this test include?
This panel combines a complete blood count with microscopic review of red-cell appearance. A white-cell differential and ESR are not listed and should not be assumed unless ordered separately.
Why might it be ordered?
- To investigate anaemia or unusual red-cell indices in more detail.
- When both cell counts and a visual red-cell assessment are needed.
What sample is needed?
A blood sample is required. The laboratory chooses the correct tube and handles the sample for this test.
How should you prepare?
Fasting is usually unnecessary. Mention recent bleeding, transfusion, pregnancy and iron or vitamin treatment.
How are the results reported?
The blood count shows quantities and indices; morphology describes cell appearance. The combination may point toward further testing but is not a diagnosis by itself.
